The Danish Road Directorate invites interested contractors and suppliers to participate in a preliminary market dialogue for the upcoming Third Limfjord Link project.
This dialogue will focus specifically on the section of the motorway that crosses Egholm, including:
-
The Egholm Tunnel (south of Egholm)
-
Two low bridges (north of Egholm, across Nørredyb)
-
The Valley Bridge over Østerådal
Project Overview
South of Egholm, the plan includes the construction of the Egholm Tunnel — a 2-kilometre underground structure designed to carry the motorway beneath the Limfjord’s main navigation channel, which spans over 100 meters in width and reaches depths of 10 meters.
From Egholm, the motorway continues northeast along a straight alignment, crossing Nørredyb via two low bridges. It then proceeds on an embankment between Aalborg Airport and Nørresundby, elevated above the surrounding terrain.
North of Egholm, the motorway again crosses Nørredyb using two additional low bridges, each about 600 meters long.
The final section, the Valley Bridge, spans the Østerådal, a double-track railway (Aarhus–Aalborg), and a recreational path. The bridge will serve both as infrastructure and a wildlife crossing, integrating functionality and environmental consideration.
Purpose of the Dialogue
Ahead of the official tendering process, the Danish Road Directorate seeks industry input on:
-
Procurement and contract conditions
-
Construction methodologies
-
Potential subdivision of tenders
Insights gathered will help shape the tender documents to ensure they reflect realistic market conditions, current capabilities, and best practices.
