Early contractor involvement for the M4 extension of Copenhagen Metro

Nordhavn is the largest current urban development area in Copenhagen, and once Nordhavn is fully developed, it is expected to house 35.000 people and employ 28.000 people. Therefore, the M4 extension to Outer Nordhavn is intended to ensure efficient public transport to a rapidly developing district.

In the work with the M4 to Outer Nordhavn, Metroselskabet have placed a very strong emphasis on designing a metro system where they reduce the CO2 footprint. For the entire project, the goal is to reduce the climate impact by 50% compared to the existing line in Nordhavn. To achieve this goal, Metroselskabet set an intermediate target that the first 30% reduction should be achieved solely by optimizing the design during the assessment phase. In the next phase, the goal is to achieve additional CO2 reductions.
